Queensland Correctional Services (QCS) is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Manager, Education and Support to join our team dedicated to integrity, ethics, assurance, and organisational excellence.
The Professional Standards and Governance Command (PSGC) ensures the community has confidence that QCS, as a top tier public safety agency, is delivering professional corrective services through a competent and confident workforce supported by strong and ethical leadership, reinforced by robust assurance activities. As the Manager, Education and Support, you will provide strategic leadership in ethics awareness, training, and assurance activities for managers and frontline staff across QCS, reinforcing our commitment to a culture of integrity.
In this pivotal role, you will:
• Deliver expert advice on complex ethical issues and dilemmas in the workplace, supporting managers and staff to make sound judgements and choices.
• Develop and deliver tailored formal and informal training programs on ethics, values, integrity, and discipline systems, ensuring compliance with the Public Sector Ethics Act 1994.
• Embed assurance activities into training and operational practices, ensuring continuous improvement and compliance with standards that safeguard organisational integrity.
• Review complaints referred by the Ethical Standards Assessment Unit and advise local management on effective resolution strategies.
• Lead and manage the Education and Support Team, ensuring effective delivery of core business activities and support for frontline staff in preventing, identifying, and responding to misconduct and corruption through sound assurance processes.
• Monitor legislative and policy changes, and drive the development of new initiatives to enhance ethics awareness, assurance, and organisational integrity.
• Work collaboratively with executives and senior officers, providing timely, evidence-based briefings and reports to inform decision making and support assurance strategies.
• Coach managers and supervisors on complex ethical issues, employee conduct, conflict resolution, complaints management, and assurance protocols.
• Build and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders, advancing the interests of QCS in various forums and committees and strengthening assurance networks.
• Foster a workplace culture centred on collaboration, evidence-based decision making, innovation, high performance, and robust assurance activities.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
• Extensive experience in providing advice, support, training, and assurance on ethical issues in a large and complex public sector organisation.
• Strong knowledge (or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge) of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, and assurance frameworks within the correctional system and public sector.
• Proven ability to develop and deliver training packages in ethics, code of conduct, and integrity, considering legislative frameworks and assurance requirements.
• High-level analytical, interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to communicate with influence on sensitive and complex issues, including assurance and compliance matters.
• Experience building and maintaining strategic relationships, preparing executivelevel reports and briefings, leading high-performing teams, and embedding assurance activities into organisational processes.
