The opportunity
As our Research Facility Manager, you will:
- Manage an extensive research horticultural and field crop facility to ensure delivery of an effective and safe work environment, including after-hours and weekend security and duties
- Develop and implement business plans to ensure provision of facilities and equipment to support Research Development & Extension and optimise returns from research activity.
- Support the implementation and adoption of Smart Farms at Gatton, including the use of Agtech and deployment of technology, in agricultural activities across the facility.
- Develop and implement a risk management program including workplace health and safety, environmental, weed and waste management and with other legislative and corporate compliance.
- Manage the operations, service, repair and maintenance of asset resources including heavy plant, vehicles, agricultural machinery and equipment, water infrastructure, and other built infrastructure.
- Develop and implement programs, packages, and systems such as quality assurance, individual recording (AgCommander), chemical management (Chemwatch) and financial reporting and other electronic packages.
- Comply with and model values in the DPI Code of Conduct and other governance requirements including development and management of financial and other resources in compliance with public finance standards.
- Manage the facility to ensure the integrity of research, development and extension projects and activities are respected and deliver positive outcomes for the industry.
- Lead and manage self and staff through performance capability planning and dedicated career development training programs to develop a harmonious work team where work excellence, diligence, cooperation and inclusiveness are standard behaviour.
- Establish and enhance networks and consultative relationships to foster good working relationships with key stakeholders.
- Foster an environment that values integrity, performance, superior client service, continuous improvement and innovation in the delivery of high-quality services.
- Consult, liaise, influence and negotiate with contractors and stakeholders on capital projects and maintenance programs and to deliver quality, on-time, and on-budget results.
- Assist in the development and implementation of business plans for the provision of facilities.
What we are looking for (qualifications, registrations, experience) Essential requirements
- A minimum of Diploma/Associate Diploma in Applied Science, Rural Science, Rural Techniques from a recognised tertiary institution, or equivalent qualifications in a field relevant to the position is a requirement of this role.
- A current “C” class drivers' licence is a requirement of this role.
- For international qualifications, the applicant will need their qualification assessed, to determine comparability with the Australian Qualifications Framework.
