Role details
The team at the Department at Mental Health & AODS at the Mackay Hospital and Health Service is seeking applications for a Principal House Officer to join their team on a temporary full-time basis (76 hrs pf) for a period of up to 12 months.

Your opportunity
- To participate in the provision, development, and maintenance of an effective, efficient, and equitable clinical service to hospital clients; and contribute to the continual improvement of medical education and dissemination of knowledge to staff and clients.
- The appointment will be to the Mackay Hospital and Health Service for the provision of services to the Mackay Base Hospital. However, at some future time, the appointee's clinical duties may be extended to other health care facilities within the Health Service.
- A Principal House Officer is a medical practitioner in the third or subsequent year of practical experience after eligibility for full registration as a medical practitioner.
About the Team
The Mackay Mental Health & Alcohol and Other Drugs Service comprises an acute mental health inpatient facility with 24 beds and a Step-Up Step-Down Unit with 6 beds. Community mental health services include an Acute Care Service, Consultation Liaison Psychiatry, Continuing Care Team, Mobile Intensive Rehabilitation Team, Early Psychosis, Child and Youth Mental Health, Older Persons Mental Health and Alcohol & Other Drugs Service. The rural communities are serviced by outreaching community teams in the Moranbah and Whitsunday area.
The Department is accredited with the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) for stages 1 to 3. The Department is also accredited for one ACRRM training position.
