About the role

The Clinical Nurse Consultant is a Registered Nurse who is recognised as an advanced level practitioner with expertise in translating skills, knowledge and evidence into nursing capability. The Clinical Nurse Consultant also collaborates with others to provide clinical leadership by offering advice on assessment, treatment options and risk management as required.

About you

Your success in this role will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following key capabilities, knowledge and experience. The ideal person for this role will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

• Demonstrated high level of clinical practice and expertise in a relevant discipline to conduct triage, clinical assessment and intervention in an acute environment within the current legislative and policy context.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and provide independent professional judgement and expertise in problem solving and clinical management of a complex caseload, without immediate clinical practice from a more senior clinician.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate at a work unit/service area level and/or across professions to ensure effective service delivery and quality outcomes.
• Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply quality assurance processes including participation in ongoing professional development opportunities and clinical supervision.
• Proven ability in the application of highly developed interpersonal, problem solving, negotiation and communication skills.

Mandatory Requirements:

• Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
