Metro South Health is seeking expressions of interest for an Assistant in Nursing – Sterilising Services to join the Central Sterilising Department at QEII Jubilee Hospital. This talent pool will be used to fill casual and temporary part-time or full-time opportunities that arise over the next 12 months, supporting the safe and effective reprocessing of reusable medical devices.

Your new role:
As an Assistant in Nursing within Sterilising Services, you will work as part of the Central Sterilising Department to support the reprocessing of reusable surgical and medical equipment in line with best-practice standards. Working under the supervision of Registered Nurses, you will contribute to infection control, patient safety and the smooth operation of perioperative and clinical services across the hospital.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reprocessing reusable medical devices, including decontamination and sterilisation
- Sorting, wrapping and packaging instruments and equipment
- Supporting loan set management, storage and transport of sterile items
- Maintaining infection control and sterilisation standards
- Completing documentation and using electronic systems as required
About you:
You are a reliable and motivated Assistant in Nursing who values patient safety, teamwork and quality care. You are comfortable working in a structured environment, follow procedures closely and are committed to maintaining high standards in sterilising services.
You will bring:
- Certificate III in Sterilising Services (or commenced and willing to complete)
- Understanding of infection control and sterilisation principles
- Ability to follow policies, procedures and delegated instructions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
- Willingness to work shift work across a 7-day roster

The Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital (QEII) is a medium metropolitan adult facility providing a range of inpatient and outpatient services including a 24-hour Emergency Department. We provide a range of services, including surgery, cardiology, endoscopy, orthopaedics, gynaecology, urology, geriatric, respiratory and emergency medicine.
We're making our hospital bigger and better to make it easier for our growing community to get the health care they need. We'll have more beds, medical wards and expanded intensive care and emergency services planned to be opened by 2027.
