We are seeking motivated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of their communities. As a Trainee Health Worker or Trainee Health Practitioner, you will be supported to develop the skills, knowledge, and qualifications needed to deliver culturally safe, community‑centred care within our hospitals and health services. These trainee roles are designed to build a strong, skilled Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workforce across the Wide Bay region.

Your opportunity: 

  • To enhance the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service (WBHHS) through the provision of high quality, culturally appropriate services to meet the patients' needs and provide relevant information and resources to meet their needs.
  • To work in collaboration with individuals, family, and community leaders, implementing culturally sensitive engagement methods to address identified barriers to healthcare access and follow up.

Three Temporary Full Time Positions (76 hours p.f) from date of appointment for up to 18 months with the possibility of extension 

Under 25s of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld), it is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.

Our offer:

You will receive a competitive remuneration package value up to $84,842 p.a., comprising salary between $68,884 - $74,360 p.a. (21 and over) or $65,082 - $66,971 p.a. (under 21), employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (HWF1) (Three Temporary Full Time Positions, 76 hours p.f, from date of appointment for up to 18 months with the possibility of extension) (Applications will remain current for 12 months).
