North West HHS Kidney Service are seeking expressions of interest from experienced Registered Nurses for current and future positions over the next 12 months. You will deliver life‑changing dialysis care across Mount Isa and remote satellite units. This is a unique opportunity to work autonomously, travel regularly, and provide culturally responsive care closer to home and on Country.

About the role

You will deliver safe, compassionate, person‑centred nursing care across Mount Isa Hospital and satellite haemodialysis units in Doomadgee, Mornington Island, Cloncurry and Normanton.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you'll support clients with chronic kidney disease and haemodialysis needs, building strong relationships with patients, families, and communities while developing your own professional practice in a dynamic regional and remote setting.

  • Delivering high‑quality haemodialysis care across Mount Isa and remote satellite units, including regular travel to remote locations for up to two weeks at a time as part of a rotating roster.
  • Practising with increasing autonomy and professional judgement, taking accountability for your own clinical decisions and delegation of care in line with NMBA standards.
  • Providing culturally safe, person‑centred care, supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients to access dialysis closer to home and on Country.

Working with us

    • For 1 year will get you an isolation bonus of AUD$3,605. If you stay for 2 years you will get AUD$10,815… and for your 3rd year (and every year after that) you will get AUD$7,210 (pro rata for part time employees).

In your downtime, we will provide 2 return airfares p.a. (full time employees) (inc. spouse/dependents) or 1 return airfare p.a. (part time employees) to the nearest east coast provincial city in conjunction with your recreation leave.

  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution.
  • Long Service Leave and Sick Leave accrual.
  • Tax savings through salary sacrificing options are also available.

 

Plus 2 weeks p.a., travel as required and enrolment and conference costs for approved courses and conferences.

We also offer staff accommodation (if eligible) or a private rental subsidy of AUD$82.50 per week for up to 17 months.

Requirements

  • Haemodialysis experience desirable but not essential.
  • Mandatory requirements are a relevant tertiary degree qualification and appropriate registration/licences.
  • C Class Motor Vehicle Licence.
  • Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant, including Criminal History checks.
  • This is a VPD risk role and may require evidence of vaccination or immunity to: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, and Tuberculosis.
  • A period of probation may apply.
