About the role:

  • Participate in a structured intern training program, gaining the knowledge, skills and experience required for registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia and Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Deliver comprehensive clinical pharmacy services across inpatient, outpatient and discharge settings, including medication dispensing, patient counselling and drug information support.
  • Develop broad hospital pharmacy experience through rotations across medical, surgical and dispensary areas, progressively managing more complex patient care under pharmacist supervision.
  • Rotate through diverse clinical areas including medical, surgical and dispensary services, developing confidence and expertise in hospital pharmacy practice.
  • Progressively apply clinical knowledge and independent judgement to increasingly complex patient cases within a structured and supportive learning environment.

About you:

  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (or equivalent) qualification in Pharmacy is mandatory for this position.
  • Enrolment in an approved Intern Pharmacist Training Program, which has been agreed with CQHHS, before commencement of duties at Rockhampton Hospital in 2026.
  • Eligibility for registration as a pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board of Australia / Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) after satisfactory completion of the required pre-registration training period. (This requires the intern to undertake an Intern Training Program approved by the Pharmacy Board of Australia as a registration requirement during the course of the year).
  • Ability to apply theoretical knowledge to the day to day practice of hospital pharmacy in a regional area.
  • Provide responses to the attached “Intern Pharmacist Recruitment Questionnaire”.

What we offer:

Total remuneration value of up to $132,567 p.a. is comprised of:

  • An hourly rate between $43.68 - $58.59 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
