LEARNING SKILLS TEACHER – TAFE QUEENSLAND GOLD COAST

Are you passionate about helping students develop essential language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills to succeed in vocational education and employment? We are looking for an educator to play a vital role in delivering inclusive, high-quality training that transforms lives.
In this permanent full-time role, you will design and deliver engaging, outcome-focused learning programs tailored to diverse student cohorts, supporting learners from all backgrounds. Working collaboratively with teaching teams and Student Support Services, you will embed foundation skills into vocational delivery and positively impact student success. This opportunity is based at our Southport campus but travel may be required across the Gold Coast region.

About the Role
As a Teacher, Learning Skills, you will:
- Deliver high-quality training and assessment across classroom, online and blended environments
- Design and implement flexible, inclusive learning programs aligned to foundation skills frameworks
- Embed language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills within vocational contexts
- Develop assessment tools and participate in validation and moderation
- Support diverse cohorts, including ESL/NESB learners
- Build strong relationships with students, staff and industry stakeholders
- Contribute to continuous improvement and uphold TAFE Queensland values
About You

Mandatory requirements:
a) Possession of relevant formal vocational qualification/s at the level equivalent to or higher than the level to be delivered (i.e. industry qualification - certificate, trade certificate, diploma, degree or masters).
b) Possession of one of the following training and assessment qualifications:
- TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment plus TAELLN411 Address Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills;
- TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
- TAE50116/TAE50111 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training; or
- Higher level qualification in adult education (Bachelor or Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma) which includes a practicum component (refer Approved Higher Level Qualification list); and TAELLN411 Address Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Skills, or demonstrated equivalence.
c) In addition to general VET requirements, language, literacy and numeracy assessors at TAFE Queensland need to meet specific criteria related to foundation skills:
- Demonstrate sound knowledge of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) and the ACSF levels being assessed (primarily ACSF Level 2.
- Have expertise, knowledge, and skills in contextualizing and assessing core skills (learning, reading, writing, oral communication, and numeracy) within a vocational context.
- Hold the TAESS00009 Address Foundation Skills in Vocational Practice Skill Set (or its successor TAESS00026), or
- An equivalent higher-level education qualification. Examples of equivalent qualifications include the TAE80113 Graduate Diploma of Adult Language, Literacy and Numeracy Practice or a relevant Bachelor's, Graduate Certificate, or Graduate Diploma of Education.
Note: Proof of qualifications and industry currency/experience to be provided at interview.
Highly desirable:
- Sound knowledge of trade related mathematical principles.
- Previous experience working with students with English as a Second Language (ESL) backgrounds/Non-English-Speaking Backgrounds (NESB); and
- Sound knowledge of sensitivities surrounding effective engagement with various people from different cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds
