About the Mackay Hospital and Health Service

The MHHS is a contemporary organisation providing extensive health services in a range of regional, community and rural settings, to a population of around 182,000 people. About the Medical Education Unit

The Medical Education Unit (MEU) provides accredited educational programs, facilitates adequate supervision and monitoring of clinical performance, and provides mentoring and personal support for prevocational medical practitioners (doctors who are in their first to third year of training after graduation from medical school) and international medical graduates. The unit works in close collaboration with James Cook University and with Clinical Directors in the Mackay Health Service District to support the learning objectives of prevocational doctors.

Your Opportunity

• The Senior Medical Officer Education (SMO Education) provides leadership in clinical education to mentor and support the MEU education programs. 
• This position reports to the Director Clinical Training
