About us: 

The Occupational Therapy Department delivers patient-centred, evidence-based services across Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service, supporting individuals to achieve optimal independence, safety, and participation in daily activities. The team provides comprehensive assessment, intervention, and discharge planning across acute, subacute, and community settings, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework. The department is committed to clinical excellence, continuous service improvement, and workforce development through strong leadership, mentoring, and supervision, while maintaining flexible and responsive service delivery to meet the evolving needs of patients and the health service.

About your role:

In this position you will…..

  • Provide clinical practice supervision, education, mentoring and assisting with core skills training and development and performance management of less experienced Occupational Therapy practitioners, allied health assistants, support staff and students within scope of practice guidelines to ensure the development and maintenance of clinical standards.
  • Utilise high level clinical knowledge, expertise and decision making based upon current evidence, to provide safe and efficient service delivery to multiple service areas on a daily basis across the continuum of care.
  • Provide leadership within the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary teams in promoting and conducting activities aimed at continuous quality improvement including the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of clinical services service, review of clinical practices, work instructions and procedures.
