You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following key attributes.  Within the context of the responsibilities described above, the ideal applicant will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  1. Clinical Expertise - You will have a comprehensive understanding of mental health services delivery in Rural and Remote, Indigenous and CYMHS, including utilisation of the Mental Health Act 2000 (or relevant legislation) and the ability to provide high level clinical advice and support to staff.  Proven ability to lead a diverse group of Allied Health professionals within the Institute. Proven ability to develop a professional infrastructure linked to the District Allied Health Executive to support the ongoing development and growth of the associated disciplines in Mental Health.

  2. Supports Strategic Direction - You will be aware of the vision, mission and objectives of the Institute and have the skills to support, communicate and implement these goals and objectives.  You will understand, support and communicate the reasons for decisions and recommendations.  You will have a comprehensive understanding of the work environment and the proven capacity to initiate and develop team goals, strategies and work plans.

  3. Achieves Results - You will value specialist expertise and capitalise on the knowledge and skills of others within the organisation.  You will be solutions focused and respond in a positive and flexible manner to change and uncertainty. You will have proven ability to share information with others and assist them to adapt in a constantly changing environment.

Qualifications/Professional registration/Other requirements

Must hold tertiary degree qualification from a recognised tertiary institution in one of the following disciplines:-

  1. Hold a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in Occupational Therapy and must be eligible for registration with the Occupational Therapists Board of Queensland as an Occupational Therapist  OR

  2. Possess a four year degree in Psychology (Honours, Graduate Diploma) from an accredited tertiary institution. Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia is required. Possession of a Masters or Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from an accredited tertiary institution, or significant progress towards this, would be highly regarded OR

  3. Hold a tertiary degree in Social Work and be eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers.
