Principal Natural Resource Management Officer
Land Services; Central Region; Natural Resources; Rockhampton, Mackay or Emerald
Operating from within Natural Resource Assessment you will lead the planning and implementation of key projects within the department’s Central Region and contribute to statewide initiatives. This will include leading negotiation and advice to customers in relation to complex applications and the planning and delivery of targeted education and compliance programs.

Key Duties and Accountabilities
To achieve the outcomes required by this role, you must be able to:
• Provide high level and timely advice to the Manager, Natural Resource Assessment and other senior managers on complex natural resource management issues.
• Possess high level project management skills, and ensure the delivery of project milestones in an environment of competing demands, short timeframes and limited resources.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of regional and Statewide policies, procedures and initiatives in support of natural resource legislation, in particular the Vegetation Management Act 1999.
• Advise, liaise, consult and negotiate with the natural resource assessment team, landholders, industry, community stakeholders and other government agencies.
• Prepare submissions, briefs and correspondence relating to complex natural resource management issues.
• Provide leadership of project teams / assessment teams to ensure ongoing effective service delivery and implementation of departmental strategies and initiatives within the region.
• Be responsive and adaptable to changing business priorities and directions.

Mandatory Requirements or Special Conditions
• The successful applicant may be required to drive 4WD vehicles in remote areas and in off road conditions, therefore possession of a current C class (manual) driver's licence is mandatory.
• Overnight and multiple days travel may be required.
