Living in Gordonvale

An easy 25 minute drive from Cairns city, on the southern corridor is the small rural sugar growing town of Gordonvale.  Home to approximately 6700 the town has a lovely historic charm with a number of heritage listed buildings and sites. 

Rising proudly from the cane fields is the iconic Walsh's Pyramid or Bundadjarruga in the Yidinji language.  At 922 metres high, Walsh's Pyramid is the world's highest freestanding natural pyramid and is a favourite hiking trail for locals and visitors alike. 

Just a stone's throw away from some of FNQ's best attractions, you'll find plenty of activities to fill your weekends.  Visit the beautiful Babinda Boulders, go caving in Chillagoe, wander through ancient lava tubes at Undara, spot platypus in Yungaburra or spend the morning at one of many weekend markets.  You'll love it here in the Far North!

 Mandatory Requirements:

It is a requirement of the Queensland Department of Education that teachers have and maintain Queensland College of Teachers Registration and an active application with Teach Queensland.
