Being a Consumer Panel Member is about enabling health consumers to influence the way health organisations plan, organise, deliver, monitor and evaluate their services. Your role as a consumer is based on the fundamental idea that the people affected by a decision have a right to participate in making that decision.

Do I have the skills?

As a consumer panel member, you are not required to have any specialist skills or health knowledge.

As someone who has used the hospital or our health services, either as a patient or had family or friends who have used the service, you already have a very good understanding of how important it is that we have staff who can communicate effectively and respectfully. We need your opinion on whether candidates applying for CQ Health positions "fit"  and would support you or other consumers to have positive experiences whilst accessing our services and throughout your care.  CQ Health's values, principles of diversity and inclusion, and a focus on person-centred care is written into the position descriptions for all our jobs.

  • Have you been a consumer in any service provided by CQ Health?
  • Would you be able to represent yourself as an consumer?
  • Would you be happy to receive support throughout your involvement?
  • Would you be able to work in a team and have the confidence to speak in a group to get your views across?
  • Would you be available to volunteer several hours of your time?
