This exciting opportunity will contribute to the effective development, coordination, management and delivery of a professional work, health & safety and injury management services throughout the CHQ HHS, within an allocated area, as part of the broader People and Culture team.

The purpose of the role is to:

  • Effectively and efficiently inform and support CHQ HHS on WHS, injury management and RRTW responses and strategies; and
  • Develop, implement, review and report on WHS and injury management policies, guidelines, procedures and networks consistent with Departmental and HHS policy.

To be successful, you will need to have:

  • Sound knowledge of and demonstrated application of work, health & safety, workplace rehabilitation and other pertinent legislative standards and guidelines relevant to a large complex organisation and a working knowledge of the Work Health and Safety Act 2011, Workers Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003 and associated Acts, Regulations, Standards and policies;
  • Demonstrated experience in work health and safety, injury management and risk management, auditing, investigation and problem solving to identify risks and causative factors leading to flexible, responsive, client focused solutions on incident and injury prevention and/or injury management issues;
  • Understanding of fire safety training and fire and evacuation exercise drills for the education of staff and others in accordance with legislation, standards and policy as they apply to a large complex organisation.
  • Demonstrated sound interpersonal and communication skills, evidenced by the ability to manage projects, facilitate work groups and networks, work in a multidisciplinary environment and maintain effective working relationships using high level written communication and report writing skills;
  • Demonstrated project and change management skills, methodologies, principles and practices and ability to undertake research, training, policy development and evaluation which lead to business improvement outcomes; and
  • Actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, WHS and ethical behaviour.
