The Principal Practitioner Disability Services will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of a range of activities that support the development and implementation of assessment processes to identify prisoners and offenders with disability that may be eligible for NDIS support packages and operational processes for progressing relevant applications.

This will involve a focus on expert advice and guidance for QCS staff and external engagement with a range of other Government and non-Government agencies.

Undertake administration, scoring and interpretation of validated assessment tools to inform structured professional judgement regarding disability needs.

Provide quality, accurate and timely information to relevant stakeholders in relation to offender's disability status, including referrals to NDIS and other intervention recommendations/actions.

Make informed referrals to appropriate allied health professionals and/or service providers and monitor and coordinate assessments and/or reports.

Provide assistance, mentoring, training and feedback to field staff to build capability in identifying and responding to disability needs.

Maintain own level of knowledge of legislation, policy and procedures in relation to disability and the management of offenders/prisoners.

Exchange information with relevant agencies to optimise policy development and implementation consistent with the highest standards of community safety.

Establish and implement protocols and procedures in accordance with relevant legislations.

Develop productive relationships with relevant community agencies to deliver on NDIS requirements.

Maintain partnerships between QCS and other key stakeholders to inform strategic policy development and effectively meet the needs of clients with a disability.

Mandatory Qualifications, Conditions and Requirements:

- A Degree in psychology, education, social work or a related discipline is mandatory.
