The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Clinical Midwife Consultant or Clinical Nurse Consultant (Waijungbah Jarjums Service - Identified) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 10 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Lead the Waijungbah Jarjums team and works closely with the other grade 7 midwives and the Midwifery Education and Research team
  • Be passionate about improving the perinatal outcomes of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander mums and babies
  • Have demonstrated clinical expertise as a clinical midwife or clinical nurse with experience in child health nursing
  • Provide culturally safe and wholistic care to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families

About you

To be successful in this position you will require: 

  • Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
  • AHPRA Registration
  • To perform this role, it is essential that the person who holds the position be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (Chicken Pox), Pertussis (Whooping Cough) and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed

  • Permanent full time
  • Base salary ranging from $116,092 - $126,037 per annum

Co-led and co-designed by the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, Identified Midwifery Navigator, GCHHS Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander unit and Griffith Universities Professor of First Peoples Health. Waijungbah Jarjums provides a community based one-stop hub for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and babies across the first 1000 days with a continuity of midwifery care group practice, child health nurses, allied health and health workers.
