The Escort and Security Branch has a number of major functions including:
1. the safe and secure custody of prisoners of the Brisbane Magistrates Court and the Brisbane Supreme and District Court;
2. the safe and secure transportation of prisoners between correctional centres and other locations.
3. operating the Princess Alexandra Hospital Secure Unit (PAHSU); and
4. the safe and secure management of prisoners within the Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH).

It is important to note:
The Courts Unit operates court custody and court security on behalf of the Sheriff of Queensland in the Brisbane Supreme Court, the Principal Registrar in the Brisbane District Court and Director of Courts in the Brisbane Magistrates Court.
The Courts Unit operates under the direction of the relevant proper officer of the court as above. Corrective Services staff employed within the Brisbane Central Courts complexes obtain the authority to do so under the Corrective Services Act 2006, Part 10 - Prisoners of a court.
The Supervisor will be responsible to supervise and direct staff and facilitate service delivery to prisoners.
The role is required to support departmental outcomes and liaise with stakeholders.
This role will also contribute to a safe work environment and coordinate the operations of Escort and Security Branch.
In this role you will:
- Actively support the manager of each operational unit to achieve:
- departmental and operational outcomes related to safety, security, service delivery, prisoner management and stakeholder engagement; and
- department goals and objectives and departmental compliance and assurance requirements.
- Provide ethical based leadership consistent with legislation and departmental policy and procedure;
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders;
- Supervise and direct correctional officers;
- Contribute to the development of effective teams and individual staff;
- Monitor and improve the performance of staff;
- Undertake and oversight tasks to ensure and improve:
- the delivery of services to prisoners; and
- prisoner management.
- Monitor, maintain and improve the standard of service delivery to prisoners;
- Monitor, maintain and improve the standard of prisoner management;
- Ensure that operations occur in accordance with relevant legislative and procedural requirements;
- Ensure static and dynamic security and active supervision of prisoners;
- Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of operational security regimes and practices;
- Develop and implement operational plans, logistics plans and contingency plans related to operations;
- Produce operational risk assessments; and
- Contribute to the provision of a safe environment for staff, visitors, stakeholders and prisoners.
