The Parole Board Queensland was established as an independent authority and its statutory functions and powers are exercised independent from influence by Queensland Corrective Services (QCS).
The Secretariat is a business unit established under the Community Corrections and Specialist Operations division in QCS. The Secretariat supports the Board through the provision of administrative and legal support to assist with the operations of the Board.

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced administrator to join Parole Board Queensland's Secretariat Business Services Team. We will also be using this advertisement to create a suitability pool whereby positions for up to 6 months, on a temporary fixed-term basis may be available, with the potential for extension.
This role is dynamic and varied and will give you the opportunity to work across a range of administrative based functions, and day-to-day you could be:
• Providing advice on a broad range of financial activities including end of month accruals, journals, budget submissions, and financial reporting for the board
• Co-ordinating business continuity planning to ensure 24/7 operations and risk identification and management
• Developing rosters and engaging with key stakeholders
• Providing advice on human resources matters, including supporting with recruitment and selection, staff appointments and the monitoring of establishment and workforce management
• Supporting the coordination of services including facilities, information technology and work health and safety requirements
• Assisting with submissions for budget and other business requirements

Within the context of the role responsibilities described above under “About the role', the ideal applicant will be someone who can competitively demonstrate their knowledge, skills and experiences and their suitability against the Leadership competencies for Queensland (Individual Contributor): Vision, Results and Accountability in the context of the essential requirements for this role:
• Sound knowledge, or the capacity to acquire a sound knowledge, of current strategic issues pertaining to the direction of the Board and QCS within a complex criminal justice sector environment;
• Ability to apply and interpret legislation and work confidently under multiple delegations of authority and policy and procedural frameworks relating to the financial and human resource functions of the Board and QCS;
• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, written and oral, including demonstrated ability to participate in and support liaison, consultation and negotiation with diverse stakeholder groups both internally and with external agencies;
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, and as a member of a high performing team supporting the Senior Advisor with all activities that achieve the efficient operations and administration of the Board;
• Shows initiative and applies planning, analytical and conceptual skills in order to identify problems and progress activities as required;
• Demonstrated commitment to own wellbeing, building resilience in the workplace and able to develop effective strategies dealing with emotionally charged situations or at times difficult and controversial issues; and
• Demonstrated values to act with integrity, fairness and professionalism and encourages others to do so through role modelling a commitment to applying ethical decision making in the workplace.
