Senior Advisor
Operational Policy and Practice Group; Policy and Legal; Workforce Culture Integrity and Capability; Brisbane
As the Senior Advisor you will:
- Liaise with key internal stakeholders across all areas of QCS to build productive and mutually beneficial relationships.
- Provide timely advice in relation to QCS’ operational policies and practices, including Custodial Operations Practice Directives and Operational Practice Guidelines.
- Support the benchmarking, review and development of policies, procedures, instructions, and guidelines.
- Work closely with the Principal Advisor, Operational Policy and Practice, to complete a calendar of review activities.
- Assist in the preparation of complex written submissions, accurate and easily understood policy and practice documents.

The Essential Requirements for this Role are:
- Demonstrated experience in high level written communication, particularly the abilityto assist in the accurate preparation of complex and sensitive reports, briefings, policy papers, practice guidelines.
- Demonstrated research and analytical skills, with the ability to present evidenced based, fit-for-purpose, business case recommendations to senior management.
- Strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Knowledge and ability to accurately interpret legislation, policies and procedures for appropriate on the job implementation.
- Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to set priorities, coordinate activities and meet deadlines.
- Exposure to continuous improvement processes that will support the operational review of Policies and practices from an on-the-job perspective, leading to legislatively compliant amendments or improvements.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain comprehensive and detailed knowledge of Government and QCS strategic directions, relevant legislative and statutory requirements.
It would be highly desirable to possess:
- Experience in, or understanding of, contemporary correctional practices and services, criminal justice environment or similar human service/regulatory agency.
- Contemporary knowledge and awareness of the QCS custodial and/or community corrections operational environment or similar frontline operational experience.
