Sentence Planning Coordinator

A Sentence Planning Coordinator will contribute to the day-to-day operations of Sentence Management Services performing sentence management functions either in a correctional centre or within a hub environment at designated locations.
The role is responsible for: engaging with and assessing prisoners, report preparation and writing; and completing necessary administrative tasks associated with lawful detention, court attendance and parole processes.
The role will also provide supervision and service delivery coordination for small work units to ensure compliance with timeframes, legislation and departmental policies, procedures and practice directives.

The essential requirements for this role are:
- An understanding of the criminal justice system or similar legislated work environment or alternatively demonstrated workplace experience that would evidence your ability to rapidly acquire this knowledge is highly desirable;
- Demonstrated ability to meet the challenges of a demanding work environment including high level planning and organisational skills that ensure multiple tasks are completed within identified timeframes;
- Interpersonal and negotiation skills to support service delivery in an environment where engagement with a range of internal and external stakeholders is critical;
- Highly developed problem solving skills to ensure issues are identified and resolved including a demonstrated ability to identify and respond appropriately to identified risks related to prisoner management;
- Strong written and oral communication skills and an attention to detail in this regard including in the preparation of and completion of complex reports, for both internal and external stakeholders; and
- Demonstrated ability to supervise staff, set priorities, monitor work flow and develop local strategies or work practices.
