The Policy and Legal Command establishes and provides effective organisationwide legal strategies, framework and advice, reflective of wider QCS strategies, operational policy development and service requirements.
The Right to Information (RTI) and Privacy Workgroup is responsible for administering the department’s obligations under the Right to Information Act 2009 (RTI Act) and the Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act). This includes: making access decisions on applications for documents under both Acts and applications for amendment of personal information under the IP Act; management of privacy
complaints and breaches; and preparation of the Right to Information and Information Privacy Annual Report.

In this role you will:
- Manage and co-ordinate within required timeframes the location, retrieval and production to courts and tribunals of documents subject to subpoena, notice for production or other court process.
- Determine the scope of information release under court initiated processes and make decisions in complex matters regarding production.
- Prioritise work tasks in accordance with legislative requirements and litigation timeframes, particularly with regard to contentious matters.
- Maintain the database with all details of production requests, undertake relevant administration tasks associated with the management of document production requests and provide reports to management as required.
- Identify any training and support needs of staff within QCS business units in relation to the management of subpoenas and release of information.
- Liaise, consult, negotiate and provide expert advice to internal and external clients and organisations in relation to specific document production requests.
- Contribute to the development of policy, practice and procedures for the efficient release of documents and information to courts and tribunals by QCS.
- Maintain an awareness of recent legal and government developments and trends to ensure best practice production decisions are made.
