In this role you will:
- Contribute to the development, promotion and implementation of the agency's strategic goals and direction
- Implement project activities across the region as detailed in the Agency Strategic Plan and other planning documents
- Analyse, evaluate and manage the operational impact of corporate strategy and policy and apply this to the rehabilitation of offenders
- Analyse external operating environment and develop strategies to minimise risk and impact
- Provide advice to the Assistant Commissioner, Community Corrections on operational issues and ensure that the appropriate remedial initiatives are developed, implemented and evaluated where necessary
- Identify and minimise risk to the agency and the community by ensuring compliance with community supervision standards
- Maintain high standards of management practices that facilitate effective supervision and improved reintegration and rehabilitation of offenders who are subject to community supervision orders
- Develop operational plans and implement processes for effective community, judicial, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and special interest group involvement in the region to ensure stakeholders are engaged regarding criminal justice issues
- Engage with the Queensland Police Service and other departments and community organisations, forums and support services, and develop productive relationships and ensure the appropriate exchange of information to optimise offender management consistent with community expectations
- Maintain strong internal and external professional networks
- Facilitate the training and professional development needs of staff to enhance capability across the region
- Proactively manage the work performance and personal conduct of employees in accordance with the responsibilities under the Public Sector Act and maintain own level of knowledge of legislation, policies and procedures relevant to managing staff and contemporary management practices
- Manage the workload and work practices of staff and facilitate the training and professional development needs of staff
- Develop and implement Human Resource Management plans and systems for the region
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff, offenders and staff on external visits
- Manage an approved recurrent and capital budget for the region in accordance with relevant legislation, standards, rules, procedures and delegations
- Devise and implement strategies to respond to budget trends
- Maintain office accommodation and equipment to deliver services
