Principal Lawyer (Commercial and Property Team), Crown Law

Intellectually stimulating and professionally engaging role. Mix of commercial and property work, including advice, transactional and contract drafting work.

Achievable 5.5 hours billable hours target.

Excellent working hours. Accrue time off for hours worked over the standard 7:15 working hours per day in accordance with arrangements made under schedule 3 of the Queensland Public Service Officers and Other Employees Award – State 2015.

Flexible working arrangements. Up to two days a week telecommuting for full time staff and up to one day per week telecommuting for part time staff. Full time role or part time roles available.

Crown Law is seeking an experienced lawyer to undertake legal matters within the Commercial and Property Team.

Conduct a professional legal practice as a specialist practitioner undertaking one or more of the types of legal work set out under the headings ‘Commercial Law stream' and ‘Property Law stream' in the role description.

When required, provide supervision and guidance to other members of the practice in conduct of legal matters.

As required, assist in:

  • the provision of legal training to officers of client Departments and officers of Crown Law;
  • promoting Crown Law services to client Departments;
  • the provision of specialist advice and guidance on questions of law and practice to other officers within the Legal Practice Group;
  • liaising with officers of Government Departments, Corporations and Instrumentalities;
  • negotiating skilfully in tough situations, winning concessions without damaging relationships; and
  • writing and communicating clearly, succinctly in a variety of settings to convey messages that will achieve a desired effect.
  • Participate in and maintain a proactive approach to self-development, including:
    • achievement of CPD points; and
    • participation in Crown Law's performance management and development framework and any feedback processes.
  • Comply at all times with the business standards, including:
    • the client service charter;
    • the requirement to meet set targets for billable hours;
    • Quality and timeliness measures; and
    • Quality Assurance framework
