Queensland Corrective Services is seeking a Principal Adviser, Domestic Violence Project to join the Custodial Delivery Command team for a period of 12 months.

The Custodial Delivery Command leads Custodial Operations’ reform agenda, transforming the division into a high performing custodial environment that supports the Commissioner’s vision of a top tier public safety agency. It provides leadership and promotes best practice in the prioritisation and sequencing of effort, delivering timely, valued and connected change. The Custodial Delivery Command is responsible for the coordination and effective delivery of a range of operational projects, and provides oversight of practice across the state in all areas of operation. The Custodial Delivery Command is a critical enabler in delivering the QCS reform agenda.

The Principal Adviser is responsible for the timely implementation and delivery of key projects or activities to support operational improvement and consistent practice across QCS's correctional environments. Regular travel to Wacol will be required for this role.

In this role you will:

  • Plan, develop and execute key deliverables required to ensure successful outcomes for a trial of QCS officers serving Domestic Violence Orders to prisoners.
  • Develop detailed work plans and schedules to manage and report on implementation of projects or other bodies of work.
  • Work closely with other principal advisors, project managers and business units to ensure project outcomes are embedded into organisational culture.
  • Develop communication and consultation plans and engage with key stakeholders (internal and external) through critical stages of project or service delivery, and ensure change management strategies are implemented. 
  • Develop and maintain operational process and procedural documentation to serve Domestic Violence Orders to prisoners.
  • Prepare and coordinate resources and documents for the serving of Domestic Violence Orders including booking appointments with prisoners.
  • Serve the documentation on the prisoners, explaining the content of the Order and obtaining evidence that the document was served.
  • Preparation of evidentiary certificates and liaison with the Queensland Police Service. 
  • Provide advice to Custodial Operations executives regarding resourcing and other key considerations for embedding process changes, and action any approved changes.
  • Prepare, maintain and disseminate high quality reports, correspondence and other complex documentation.
