Queensland Corrective Services (QCS), through the Professional Standards and Governance Command (PSGC), ensures the community has confidence that QCS, as a top tier public safety agency, is delivering professional corrective services through a competent and confident workforce supported by strong and ethical leadership. QCS is seeking a dedicated Senior Adviser to join our team and play a pivotal role in the delivery and enhancement of operational service delivery activities and strategic directions across the Agency. This role offers the opportunity to support the development of high standards in professional conduct and performance, and to contribute to the continuous improvement of operational practices.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide timely guidance and advice on QCS operational policies, including Custodial Operations Practice Directives and Operational Practice Guidelines.
• Facilitate knowledge sharing and foster strong partnerships across QCS and other policy stakeholders to ensure alignment with organisational frameworks.
• Support the benchmarking, review, and development of policies and procedures to ensure legislative compliance and suitability for operational environments.
• Work closely with Command Directors to monitor, measure, and report on compliance issues, and assist in recommending practice improvements.
• Prepare complex written submissions, policy documents, reports, briefings, and presentations that are clear and accurate.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of operational strategies and plans as part of the Command.
• Stay abreast of emerging trends, policies, and legislation, escalating or mitigating risks as required.
• Manage internal quality management processes, including document control and policy/practice revisions.
• Liaise with key internal stakeholders to build productive and mutually beneficial relationships.
