Court Advisory Services is a pilot program in response to the Women’s Safety and Justice Taskforce, Hear her voice – Report Two recommendation 130 “Queensland Corrective Services develop and implement a plan for the sustainable expansion of court advisory services across Queensland to support greater use of pre-sentence reports”.
The purpose of the pilot is to ensure the magistrates have access to relevant information about an individual to make an informed sentencing decision. In some cases, this additional information will enable magistrates to consider community-based orders which would enable people to address their criminogenic needs in the community rather than in custody.

About the Role:
In this role you will report to the Program Manager and will be responsible for developing, managing and sustaining partnerships with government and non-government stakeholders, to promote the benefits of community-based supervision (where appropriate) and support the delivery of the Enhanced Court Advisory Service (ECAS). This role will be responsible for ensuring government and non-government collaboration, to help reduce the over-representation of First Nations people, women and girls, in the criminal justice system.
The primary accountabilities of the Partnerships Coordinator (Identified) include:
- Facilitate regular communication and collaboration between government and non-government stakeholders, to help reduce the over-representation of First Nations people, women and girls, in the criminal justice system.
- Work in partnership with First Nations communities to strengthen the relationship with QCS and support the diversion of First Nations people (and other priority groups) from imprisonment.
- Build capacity of the unit/team to engage with First Nations stakeholders, in a culturally safe manner.
- Develop and deliver effective community engagement initiatives, including stakeholder information sessions, network meetings and stakeholder engagement forums.
- Educate and inform government and non-government stakeholders of the benefits of community-based supervision, including assisting in the development of educational material, and holding information sessions.
- Provide court advisors with the relevant information and support to connect offenders to service providers in the community.
- Promote court advisory services with internal and external stakeholders and build confidence in Community Corrections service delivery.
- Act as a liaison between QCS and other government and non-government stakeholders, and attend regular meetings to identify challenges, share knowledge and improve service outcomes.
- Provide regular advice and feedback to the Team Leader regarding the outcomes of engagement activity, and any identified trends that have a direct impact on First Nations people.
- Actively identify and engage with new stakeholders and services to broaden the network of partnerships to support individuals in the criminal justice system.
- Ensure all partnership activities are conducted in compliance with relevant QCS policies and procedures.
- Ensure service delivery is aligned with trauma-informed practice principles.
- Ensure all service delivery is culturally safe, respecting and valuing diverse backgrounds and the needs of First Nations people.
- Model and demonstrate professional presentation and behaviour aligned to the standards of conduct for Queensland Public Service employees.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties as directed, adhering to professional standards and organisational objectives.
