Pharmacy are looking for a Pharmacy Assistant - Advanced to join their team. The Pharmacy Service provides medication management services across the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service (GCHHS), 7 days a week. Our team of approximately 80 pharmacists are assisted in their roles by over 40 support persons comprising pharmacy assistants, administration officers, purchasing and stores personnel. The dispensary at each of the two hospital campuses is also equipped with automated dispensing robots to facilitate dispensing, distribution and inventory management activities. The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Pharmacy Assistant - Advanced to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 10 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to over 550,000 people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will take responsibility for

  • Providing a defined range of pharmacy services for patients under the delegation and guidance of a pharmacist
  • Leading quality improvement activities including reviewing and updating work instructions
  • Providing education to patients on the use of a defined range of medicines, medication aids and devices
  • Participating as a member of a multi-disciplinary team in a non-clinical capacity, under the direct supervision of a pharmacist conforming to current legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide support, training, mentoring and supervision of pharmacy staff with performance review including direct observation evaluation and feedback

Requirements for the role

  • Certificate IV in Hospital/Health Services Pharmacy Support (HLT47115) or equivalent qualification.   A certified copy of this qualification must be provided upon application
  • A Certificate of Competency in ‘Maintain Pharmaceutical Imprest Stock' Module (HLTPA001), as part of a Certificate III in Hospital Pharmacy is a legal requirement for undertaking Controlled Drug imprest duties. Applicants who do not have a certificate of competency in this module are expected to complete it (at their own expense) within 3 months of commencing employment
  • It is a condition of employment in this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: as required by HR Policy B1 measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), pertussis (whooping cough) and hepatitis B

Salary information

  • Temporary part time (up to 12 months with the possibility of extension, 53.2 hrs p.f.)
  • Base salary ranging from $30.75 - $33.72 per hour
  • Up to 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
