Cross River Rail Delivery Authority (CRRDA)…Your chance to work with the best!

The Cross River Rail Delivery Authority is building a new 10.2km rail line that includes 5.9km of twin tunnels running under the Brisbane River and CBD; with four new underground stations at Boggo Road, Woolloongabba, Albert Street and Roma Street.

Once complete, it will provide trains with a much-needed alternative rail path through the core of the current SEQ Rail network, unlocking a bottleneck and allowing more trains to run more often across the whole of South East Queensland.

The Cross River Rail Delivery Authority is also delivering multiple supporting projects and activities in conjunction with the Department of Transport and Main Roads. These include accessibility rebuilds for eight surface stations, construction of three new stations on the Gold Coast; upgrades for stabling yards; track works and surface rail enhancements; and the introduction of a new ETCS digital signalling system.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to play a critical role in ensuring Cross River Rail can operate as a complete and integrated system.

As Operational Functionality Manager, you will provide assurance that infrastructure, systems and staging decisions enable the railway to deliver required operational performance, capacity and passenger outcomes across Day 1, steady state and future operational states.

You will coordinate governance arrangements and operational functionality activities across the project, ensuring decisions remain aligned with agreed operational requirements and supporting informed decision making.

Working in a complex multi-agency environment, you will bring together technical inputs, stakeholder requirements and operational planning activities to manage dependencies, assumptions and risks that may impact performance and capacity.

This opportunity is offered as a fixed term contract until February 2029 with possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide assurance that infrastructure, systems and staging decisions enable the railway to operate as a complete system
  • Coordinate operational inputs, validation and reporting to support governance and decision making
  • Lead validation and modelling activities to demonstrate operational readiness across Day 1 and future states
  • Monitor infrastructure sequencing and delivery milestones to ensure alignment with operational requirements
  • Identify and manage dependencies, risks and operational constraints impacting performance and capacity
  • Assess and manage impacts arising from project changes and evolving infrastructure states
  • Coordinate technical and operational inputs across multiple stakeholders and agencies
  • Provide advice and briefings to senior stakeholders and governance forums

About You:

  • Experience in operational assurance, rail operations, network planning or operational readiness environments
  • Background within major rail, transport or infrastructure projects
  • Strong understanding of operational risk, validation and governance frameworks
  • Ability to interpret complex technical and operational information and translate into clear recommendations
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders across multiple organisations in complex environments
  • Strong judgement and ability to manage risk, escalation and decision pathways
