Cross River Rail is a new 10.2km rail line including 5.9km of twin tunnels running under the Brisbane River and CBD, with four new underground stations at Boggo Road, Woolloongabba, Albert Street and Roma Street. The Cross River Rail Delivery Authority is also tasked with multiple supporting projects and activities, including accessibility rebuilds for eight surface stations, construction of three new stations on the Gold Coast, upgrades for stabling yards, track works and surface rail enhancements, and the introduction of a new world-class digital train signalling system.

About the Role:

The Digital Engineering team works at the cutting edge of Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology in Queensland, providing a crucial role in shaping the Delivery Authority's strategy, which is responsible for all things digital engineering as we move towards completion of this generational project. This team has a focus on addressing technical challenges using digital solutions with a focus on assurance, operational readiness, testing and commissioning, training and familiarisation, operations, and maintenance.

The BIM & CAD Technician is responsible for the implementation, coordination, operation, creation and maintenance of the BIM Model and CAD datasets for the CRRDA.

The BIM and CAD Technician role sites within the Digital Engineering team at the Delivery Authority. The position reports to the Manager, Digital Services, and works within the BIM team, working closely with the GIS and 3D visualisation teams.

Key Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of this role are the following:

  • Produce BIM & CAD outputs for our major programs of work and developer-led precinct development projects.
  • Review externally supplied BIM models and CAD files.
  • Creation of 2D/3D CAD outputs.
  • Support the creation and analysis of CRRDA's federated models.
  • Support project reporting and analysis.
  • Support the management of CRRDA libraries and templates.
  • Support the integration of BIM, CAD, GIS, and 3D visualisation models and datasets.
  • Build and maintain productive working relationships with other internal and external stakeholders to ensure BIM deliverables are achieved.
  • Support other BIM/CAD tasks as requested by the Director, Specialised Services and Solutions.

About You:

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following key competencies:

  • Previous experience in a BIM/CAD technical delivery role supporting complex or large-scale projects (infrastructure or rail highly desirable)
  • Proven experience and proficiency in the use of industry standard digital engineering tools such as Navisworks, Revit, AutoCAD, and Revizto
  • Experience and knowledge on the collection, structure and analysis of BIM data with the ability to interpret and report on data
  • An ability to multi-task and work well under pressure to meet deadlines with autonomy or within a team environment.
