Senior Advocacy Officer

The Senior Advocacy Officer (SAO) provides support to operational teams across CVA and will report to a Community Visiting and Advocacy Manager (CVAM) located in the Central Office (Brisbane). The SAOs are responsible for contributing to policy and practice development regarding advocacy, governance and performance and by undertaking complex advocacy on behalf of clients, within the scope of CVA functions, as directed by the CVAM. Advocacy may be required across a variety of areas such as child protection, NDIS, mental health, forensic disability services, and youth justice.

Key Responsibilities
• Receive and assess complex and sensitive information regarding CVA clients to determine all potential avenues of advocacy, referral and/or escalation pathways are considered.
• Establish and maintain positive connections with regional care and service providers, government agencies, such as the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), Child Safety, Youth Justice, and Queensland Health.
• Work effectively as a team member and support others in a multi-disciplinary team to ensure collaboration and engagement that will lead to the successful delivery of client services.
• In consultation with the CVA management team, identify, review and update policies, procedures, and reporting guidelines which improve the efficiency or effectiveness of processes and/or enhance quality of outcomes.
• Data analysis and trend reporting.
• Educate local communities about the role and functions of the Office of the Public Guardian and participate in community engagement activities under the guidance of the CVAM, central business unit or broader OPG Executive team.
• Maintain accurate, confidential records of the management of advocacy matters.
Possession of a C class drivers' license is a mandatory requirement for this role.
This is a Continuous Applicant Pool and contract durations will vary.
