Role details

The Child and Adolescent Unit at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Nurse Unit Manager to join their team on a temporary basis.

Your opportunity

The Nurse Unit Manager is a Registered Nurse and works within a management team who is accountable at an advanced practice level for the coordination of meeting best practice standards for clinical practice though the provision of effective and efficient human and material resources. They are responsible for recruitment, onboarding, education and training of nursing and midwifery staff to develop a highly skilled team. This will ensure a high level of patient care is maintained across the Mackay Base Hospital. 

About the Team

The Child & Adolescent Unit (CAU) provides inpatient, outpatient and ambulatory care for children and adolescents aged from maternity discharge to 18 years.

The CAU inpatient unit is a family-oriented facility with 12 beds and parents and carers are encouraged to stay overnight and be actively involved with their child's care during admission. The unit is staffed by paediatricians and paediatric nurses and provides support services from an excellent team of allied health professionals.
