There is an exciting opportunity to join the Cycling & Walking team on a Temporary Part-time basis (60%) within the Transport Strategy and Planning Branch of the Policy Planning and Investment Division. You will provide strategic active transport planning advice and participate in the delivery of active transport projects, which will inform and shape the long-term investment and policy frameworks for active transport in Queensland.

In the role of Senior Planner (Cycling and Walking) you will provide strategic active transport planning advice and participate in the delivery of active transport projects, which will inform and shape the long-term investment and policy frameworks for active transport in Queensland, implementing the Queensland Cycling Strategy 2017-2027 and Queensland Walking Strategy 2019-2029.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Provide input and advice about active transport requirements to other projects (transport, land use planning, strategic planning other infrastructure development) across the state and ensure that all planning is undertaken in a multi-modal, integrated, affordable and value for money context, in line with the TMR Cycling Infrastructure Policy.
• Lead the implementation of key actions under the Queensland Cycling Action Plan and support delivery of actions by other members of the planning team.
• Prepare official correspondence, presentations, reports, project management and procurement documents, and communication materials.
• Support coordination and delivery of stakeholder engagement such as forums, workshops and working groups, and preparing relevant materials.
• Liaise, consult, develop and maintain effective relationships with team members, and internal and external clients and stakeholders.
• Actively participate in performance conversations to build and support a culture of performance improvement.

To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
• Demonstrate sound knowledge of and experience applying current active transport planning and infrastructure best practice, standards and guidance, and demonstrate technical leadership in this field.
• Support stakeholder engagement and liaison, including developing effective working relationships with officers in TMR, other state government agencies, local governments, industry groups, relevant departmental divisions and key stakeholder groups.
• Apply project management expertise through the effective engagement and management of key stakeholders, contractors, and monitoring budget, scope and project milestones.
