The Heathlands ranger base is part of the Northern Cape Management unit of Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service and Partnerships which is responsible for managing National Parks and Protected Areas in Cape York, Far North Queensland. The Heathlands Ranger base is located approximately 850 kms north of Cairns so this role is suited to someone who is prepared to live and work remotely. Rangers at Heathlands work on a roster system from Monday to Friday, however weekend work is common during the busy tourist season.
A OO5 Ranger at Heathlands will assist in managing the team with their strong skills in communication and people management skills. This role works closely with First Nations corporations and trusts, including the Apudthama Land Trust Rangers.
They will assist in the delivery of planning and projects across five focus areas depending on operation need, including Pest Management, Fire Management, Estate Management, Visitor Management and Assets and Safety. This position has both administrative and field based requirements so a moderate level of fitness and computer and administrative and budget management skills are required.
