The opportunity exists to join the QPWS&P team in the Northern Region as a OO5 Ranger (Fire) in Cairns.
The OO5 Ranger (Fire) role is dynamic and challenging. It requires a moderate level of fitness to allow you to work in physically challenging conditions. It requires experience or at least working knowledge of incident co-ordination and intelligence in relation to fire. It requires someone who is as comfortable on the fire ground as they are from the co-ordination post. In short, it requires someone who is adaptable, flexible and keeps a cool head in a hot situation.

The ideal candidate for this role possesses the ability to supervise a work group, work effectively within a team and autonomously when required. They communicate clearly and have the ability to plan and co-ordinate emergency responses.

They are flexible with working hours and location and are able to travel to remote areas across Northern Queensland and at times to other areas and interstate. They can use computers and other applications. They have great planning and reporting skills and can work to time critical deadlines.
