As our Senior Project Officer, you will:
• Work with rural and remote local governments to strengthen capability, capacity and cooperation within and across local governments and other invested biosecurity regional stakeholders.
• Lead a team to support and embed training for local government officers focussing on invasive species planning, surveillance and assistance to understand and use their fundamental legislative powers.
• Develop a project that will deliver support, education and awareness to rural and remote local governments about roles and responsibilities within the biosecurity
system, skills acquisition and sharing including:
- sharing best practices and efficiencies
- education in biosecurity risks
- management and improving compliance
- prioritisation of biosecurity risks.
• Engage local governments to ensure tools for risk prioritisation and compliance and guides to develop local government biosecurity plans are fit for purpose and used consistently for local government biosecurity planning.
• Develop and apply project management skills and knowledge to successfully scope, plan, deliver and evaluate medium sized projects or a number of small, often related projects under a larger project or strategy.
• Manage staff in accordance with all departmental policies apply performance management skills including performance and development.
• Develop and manage project communications such as regular reporting to sponsor/s, updates to stakeholders, project events (e.g. product launches) etc. and oversee document quality and document management standards including effective filing systems to support efficient storage and retrieval e.g. development and implementation of document management procedures, version control protocols etc.
• Research and analyse the project subject area/focus to support the development of project plans and proposals, to identify opportunities, emerging issues and possible solutions and/or to inform best practice and/or to improve project efficiency and/or to improve the quality of project outcomes.
