Principal Advisor (Finance)

The purpose of the Principal Advisor (Finance) role is to provide financial oversight, advice and support to the PRS Branch for operational finance as well as for program and project finance requirements for the projects in the branch. The role leads a small finance team and collaborates with other finance leads for the branch to ensure the finance requirements of the branch are always supported.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Lead and deliver project control tasks within TMR's program and project management systems, including project creation, submission and endorsement of budget program change requests, assignment of project cost codes and work breakdown structures, financial approval assessments to support procurement activity, financial completion and project finalisation activities.
• Lead and deliver financial program, project and operational management and control tasks, including establishment of expenditure forecast baselines, monitoring performance against key financial performance indicators, financial reconciliations, advise and support managers, monthly forecasting, accruals, variance commentary against the approved baseline/budget and financial and contract management activities.
• Deliver efficient, high quality reporting services including data analysis, presentations, reporting templates to enable improved analysis and decision making across the branch.
• Lead, participate, guide and influence the development and continual improvement of program, project and financial control practices. This includes identification and implementation of change through systems, policy and business practices, promoting a consistent and professional approach to project, program and financial controls and associated data management, with a particular focus on financial management.
• Provide specialist advice and guidance to the branch about operational, performance and strategic requirements.
Requirements of the role
• Experience in program and project management.
• Knowledge and experience across a variety of software packages to support the management of financial and delivery performance (including 3PCM, SAP, Microsoft Excel, Power BI or equivalent).
• A tertiary qualification in finance or significant relevant experience in a finance role commensurate to undertake the responsibilities of the role.
• Experience in collaborating and engaging with different stakeholders to achieve outcomes.
