The Department of the Premier and Cabinet is seeking a temporary Principal Policy Officer to join the Social Policy team within The Cabinet Office for a 12-month period, with possibility of extension.
As a key leader in our policy team, you will lead the development and implementation of strategic policies, provide expert advice to senior leaders and contribute to impactful decision-making processes in relation to the Treaty and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity to shape public policy, influence change, and make a meaningful impact for First Nations Queenslanders. For this role, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates will be highly regarded.

Social Policy in The Cabinet Office plays a central role in addressing strategic issues across a range of areas including health, housing, disability services, child safety, youth justice, multicultural affairs and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander policy.
DPC honours the cultures, histories and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and recognises the importance of the continuation of their distinct cultural, spiritual, and educational practices. Your opportunity:
The Principal Policy Officer will work within a small team of experienced policy officers, dedicated to supporting each other to achieve the common goals of the department and public sector. The role will be responsible for the Treaty and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships portfolio areas, and will work closely with the Department of Treaty, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships, Communities and the Arts and Queensland Treasury to progress the Government's portfolio priorities.
You will be part of the “engine room” of Government and help to drive strategic Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander policy issues through:
• Analysing complex policy issues and contributing ideas on solutions
• Preparing a range of policy and briefing documents, including for Cabinet
• Building collaborative relationships and representing the department across government
