The First Nations initiative is designed to recruit, train and employ local First Nations community members within 8 remote and discreet communities across Queensland. The pilot phase of the First Nations recruitment strategy has been trialled on Palm Island and more recently Yarrabah over the last 3 years, with exciting results in terms of community safety crime reduction and community engagement at security
patrolled precincts - schools and courts.

As part of this role, you will provide administrative support and undertake duties that provides support to members of your team, other agencies and the public, including First Nations applicants.
The successful applicant may also be required to assist training staff in the delivery of training components from a culturally tailored curriculum based at PSG Makerston House, Brisbane.
The core capability requirements for this role are:
- Provide administrative support and assistance to the relevant unit, including the provision of quality advice and timely service.
- Arrange corporate travel and undertake procurement activities including the use of corporate card and compiling and reconciling financial information in accordance with Financial Management policies and practices.
- Establish, maintain, monitor and improve administrative systems and procedures for managing information and data relative to the functions of the relevant Unit. This includes: financial, student and general records management and the use of a range of different software applications.
- Liaise with personnel within different areas of the Queensland Police Service, which includes personnel from external agencies and First Nation Project participants.
- Arrange meetings, official functions, courses, conferences, appointments, and travel itineraries.
Role Requirements:
Technical/Operational/Educational Experience:
- Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint would be highly desirable.
Other:
- The successful applicant may also be required to perform duties from PSG Makerston House, Brisbane and Queensland Police Service Academy, Oxley or North Queensland Campus, Townsville as required.
