About Your Opportunity

In the role of Principal Human Resource Advisor, you will provide expert, business focused human resource management advice, consultancy and support services on a wide range of complex human resource and change management issues to Customer Service Branch Northern Region to enhance business outcomes and support the achievement of corporate goals.

Accountabilities include:

  • Deliver quality, business-focused, and cost-effective human resource services to enhance business outcomes and achieve corporate goals. The role includes:
  • Employee relations
  • Performance management
  • Recruitment and selection
  • Managing grievances and disciplinary matters
  • Rehabilitation
  • Learning and development
  • Advise the Regional Director, Regional Management Team, and HR specialists on key human resource and change management issues affecting business and corporate objectives.
  • Develop, implement, and improve human resource practices and procedures, including:
  • Monitoring HR trends
  • Leading Divisional and Corporate initiatives
  • Recommending proactive strategies
  • Ensuring consistency and sharing best practices across regions and divisions
  • Educate and coach team leaders and managers on effective people management.
  • Support and implement HR initiatives within business units, including:
  • Workforce planning and strategy
  • Organizational development
  • Capability development
  • Equity and diversity
  • Industrial and employee relations
  • Performance management
  • Code of Conduct
  • Build and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Present clear, high-quality, and timely correspondence on people management issues.
  • Prepare submissions and represent business units in relevant tribunals, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Participate in Regional Management Team meetings and contribute to the development of the Region's business plan.

The position is located in the Townsville regional office; however, the location of the role may be flexible, upon negotiation.

Travel within Northern Region is an expectation of this role, and there will also be some additional travel within Queensland.
