About the Role and You

Reporting to the Executive Director Strategic Investments & Chief Finance Officer, you will work in a decentralised model to provide critical analysis and high-level strategic advice to senior executives on financial management, resource, and asset management issues. You will lead and coordinate the development of strategies, financial management, and procurement policies to promote effective and efficient financial and resource management outcomes. Your role will also involve negotiating effectively with DAF executive managers, business groups, and external agencies on sensitive and complex issues to gain commitment to agreed financial and resource management outcomes, for which a high level of stakeholder engagement will be critical.

You will ensure DAF meets its legislative assurance, corporate governance, and reporting responsibilities for financial management and internal controls. By shaping and leading the communication of DAF's strategic position on financial management at the whole of government level and with external collaborators and stakeholders, you will be instrumental in guiding the department's budget process. This includes financial and budgetary management strategies and resource outcomes, as well as leading and managing the preparation of financial information for the State Budget Papers, Cabinet Budget Review Committee submissions, ministerial briefs, and Parliamentary estimates briefs.

In this role, you will also oversee the management of the department's capital works and asset maintenance programs to ensure acquisitions and infrastructure and facilities projects meet the needs of the department. Developing and maintaining constructive collaborative working partnerships and relationships with clients and stakeholders, including departmental service delivery areas and Queensland Treasury, will be key to your success. You will inspire and guide a high performing and well-established team of four direct reports and approximately 20 staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality outcomes.

If you are a dynamic leader with a passion for driving financial excellence and innovative resource management, we encourage you to apply.
