About Us:
At the Department of the Premier and Cabinet (DPC), our primary responsibility is to provide support and guidance to the Premier and Cabinet to effectively deliver on the government's priorities, commitments, decisions, and objectives for the betterment of the community.
The Policy and Legislation team provides legislative and policy advice and support to the Premier, Director-General and senior departmental officers in relation to policy and legislation matters relevant to the Governance and Engagement Division. The team also provides policy and operational advice and support to the Premier and agencies in relation to government bodies, and secretariat support for the Queensland Independent Remuneration Tribunal and the Queensland Plan Ambassadors Council.
Your opportunity:
You will work within the Government Bodies team, which is responsible for the development and implementation of policies on a range of matters relating to Queensland government boards, committees and statutory office holders.
As a Senior Policy Officer within a central agency you will also provide advice and guidance to departments across government and support the provision of policy and operational advice to the Premier and Cabinet.
Your key responsibilities also include:
Preparing, and contributing to the preparation of, concise and timely briefing notes, cabinet submissions, and Executive Council minutes for various stakeholders including the Premier, Director-General and senior executives within DPC.
Building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external clients, including key contacts in the Cabinet Legislation and Liaison Units across government. Providing sound advice and negotiating with other internal and external business units and departments to resolve issues around policy or procedural matters.
