Join a mission greater than yourself as an OO4 Ranger at Oyala Thumotang (Coen) and Kutini-Payamu (Iron Range) National Parks. These roles go beyond routine—they offer a deep dive into environmental stewardship and cultural collaboration, honouring the Indigenous Management Agreement (IMA).

You'll work with Aboriginal Corporations and the Queensland Government, a pinnacle of purpose for those committed to conservation and community.

At Oyala Thumotang, your leadership skills will guide team efforts in park maintenance, capital works, and environmental programs. You'll hone your communication and cultural diversity skills, managing budgets, overseeing infrastructure, and executing strategic plans for fire, weed, and pest control. These tasks are integral to reinforcing the park's vitality and ensuring visitor and staff security.

Strategic planning is crucial as you prepare for peak activities during the dry season. You'll lead diverse projects, from environmental assessments to public engagement—all requiring a resilient and adaptable management style.

In Kutini-Payamu, the focus is much the same. You will support the Ranger in Charge with hands-on team leadership, ensuring the protection of the park's delicate ecosystems. Collaboration with local Land Trust Rangers will be key to successfully navigating a mixture of conservation and cultural responsibilities.

Both roles demand facilitation of large-scale conservation efforts, infrastructure management, and the furthering of cultural heritage protection. Your influence will extend to operational practices, promoting best practices for a sustainable park future. During the busy season, your ability to manage personnel and resources will come to the forefront, with activities ranging from conducting cultural surveys to coordinating capital works.

Given the nature-driven environment of your work, living on-site at the ranger bases ensures you're at the heart of the action, making it easier to respond to the parks' dynamic needs. Accommodation facilities are provided, allowing you to wake up in the surroundings you're helping preserve—transforming your life into one that resonates with the rhythm of these awe-inspiring landscapes.

Embrace this unparalleled opportunity to lead, protect, and inspire. As an OO4 Ranger, you aren't just accepting a job; you're stepping into a lifestyle that celebrates nature's wonders and supports preserving them for the enjoyment and benefit of all.
