As our Senior Project Officer, you will provide project support to protect Queensland livestock industries against emergency animal diseases and ensure Queensland livestock traceability facilitates market access, food safety and rapid response to a disease or pest outbreak. With growing biosecurity threats to our livestock industries, your efforts will be integral in helping the government prevent, prepare for, respond to and recover from biosecurity concerns.
You will know you're achieving success in the role when you:
• are dedicated to protecting from and preparing for emergency animal diseases and strengthening livestock traceability
• can manage your own work priorities, ensuring assigned tasks are undertaken promptly and meet the project deliverables
• are actively contributing as a member of a high-performing team.
Biosecurity Queensland (BQ) is one of the integral DAF business groups, leading the government's efforts to prevent, respond to and recover from pests and diseases threating agricultural prosperity, the environment, social amenity and human health. We achieve this by maintaining access to markets, protecting animal welfare and reducing the risk of contamination from agricultural management.
Animal Biosecurity and Welfare (ABW) supports BQ's efforts to prevent, respond to and recover from diseases threatening livestock industries and maintaining access to market. Our people work together to help mitigate biosecurity risks, uphold standards for animal welfare and animal management and lead the overall DAF response to biosecurity emergency incidents to achieve outcomes consistent with the Department's strategic direction for leadership in animal welfare, exhibited animal, animal management and animal ethics policy and service delivery.
