As the Land Resource Scientist, you will be working on projects delivering high quality soil maps of Queensland and Australia, participating in soil surveys in remote areas, and providing scientific and technical advice for matters related to soil science and land resource assessment.

As the Land Resource Scientist you will:
• Use digital soil mapping, spatial biogeochemical/crop modelling, machine learning and remote sensing techniques to deliver state-of-the-art land suitability and
soil monitoring projects.
• Use coding techniques (in R or Python) to manage large quantities of data, perform data quality control and assurance, and continuously improve the techniques used by the team to ensure effective and efficient delivery of services.
• Participate in the design, organisation and execution of soil science projects (including, for example, soil chemistry and soil physics) and soil survey and sampling
campaigns in remote areas. Field trips could last for up to two weeks at a time.
• Assist with managing projects throughout all their phases (from drafting project proposals to final reports) and contribute to the production of high-level scientific
documents, mapping products and project reports for a range of clients, partners and uses.
• Assist the Department in maintaining state-of-the-art data collection and storage standards.
• Participate in developing and fostering a vision for the team in terms of capacity and services delivered.
• Assist with maintaining relationships with a range of stakeholders including team members, colleagues and clients, sharing information and providing guidance and
support.
• Represent the Science Division and the Department at meetings and committees on issues concerning ecologically sustainable use of natural resources, consistent
with the Government's vision and priorities.
• Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engage through our work to contribute to better
outcomes for First Nations people.
