The First Nations Client Liaison and Engagement Officer role is a specialist, non-legal role focused on liaising and engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders who need advice and support to connect with Legal Aid Queensland (LAQ) and its services.

What you will do

  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Identify, build and maintain collaborative relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community networks and other groups
  • Provide information, referral and practical assistance to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and individual community members

About you: The successful candidate will have

  • Knowledge and experience working effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and communities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the criminal, child protection and domestic and family violence justice systems
  • Ability to prepare reports, briefing notes and written material
