Your contribution:
• Lead and develop a Prioritisation Framework for agreement making for all protected areas in Queensland, including understanding the Nature Conservation Act 1992 (Qld) and Native Title Act 1993 (Cth), protected area and land management.
• Finalise and implement the Agreement Making Framework including providing strategic advice and innovative agreement making strategies that consider First Nations perspectives and incorporate people, community, country and costewardship principles.
• Establish and maintain effective liaison, consultation and negotiations with internal and external stakeholders, including First Nations Peoples and business units in consultation and discussions with senior management.
• Manage and lead projects and teams, including the supporting budget, to ensure successful and timely delivery of outcomes in support of Agency strategic direction.
• Provide high level expertise and advice to stakeholders both internal-to-Government with respect to agreement making including briefings and Cabinet submissions.

About you
:
• Demonstrated experience and understanding of legal agreements such as Indigenous Land Use Agreements or similar, as well as a sound understanding of legislation which contribute to the agreements e.g. Aboriginal Land Act 1991, Nature Conservation Act 1992, Native Title Act 1993.
• Significant experience in agreement making including making implementable and pragmatic agreements with First Nations people that are aligned to First Nations people rights and aspirations and that are balanced against Government priorities and legislation.
• Strong experience in project management methodologies, principles and practices, including an ability to effectively manage resources to deliver and design Frameworks.
• High level communication skills with expertise in explaining complex information in culturally proficient ways and the demonstrated ability to liaise, negotiate and collaborate with First Nations people.
