Conservation Officer
Protected Area Strategy & Policy; Protected Area Strategy & Investment; Queensland Parks and Wildlife Services & Partnerships; Flexible
This position is part of a small team responsible for developing policy and procedures required to recognise and implement Other Effective area-based Conservation Measures (OECMs) in Queensland. This role will also support implementation, delivery and reporting under Queensland’s Protected Area Strategy 2020-2030. The person in this role will contribute to the development of supporting materials, support consultation processes, prepare policies and procedures, and provide technical advice as part of a protected and conserved area program in the QPWS&P division.

This position requires:
• Well-developed written communication skills and the ability to prepare a variety of materials including reports, and technical or policy documents, that are clear and concise.
• Research skills including the ability to analyse a variety of information sources, identify issues, draw accurate conclusions, and develop recommendations.
• Well-developed interpersonal and liaison skills, including the ability to work in a team environment, work independently or support others as required, and establish and maintain effective relationships.
• Knowledge, or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge, of international frameworks for biodiversity including the Global Biodiversity Framework, and protected area legislation such as the Nature Conservation Act 1992.
• Experience working on projects, managing your own time, working effectively under pressure, and managing competing priorities.
• Contribution to workplace equity and diversity that enriches our culture of safety, innovation, respect and inclusion.
