Community Mediation Manager

The DRB is transforming its community mediation services to ensure that we are an accessible service, who collaborates with stakeholders to provide responsive dispute resolution services to the community. Key initiatives include creating a dedicated workplace mediation service and conflict coaching services, in addition to ensuring that neighbour and other community dispute have timely access to our services.
This is an exciting opportunity for the successful applicant to lead the DRB community mediation and dispute resolution services and the strategic and operational management of 10 staff and 100 casual mediators, who are located around the state.

Your key responsibilities
• Provide strategic and operational leadership and management of the civil dispute resolution and mediation service throughout Queensland in accordance with relevant legislation, directives, policy and procedures.
• Lead, guide and supervise a state-wide team, building a positive team culture and ensuring the team is trained, equipped and supported to ensure quality outcomes.
• Ensure the delivery of best practice community mediation and dispute resolution processes within the parameters of DRB work and ensure a consistent, coordinated and effective approach to the provision of this service.
• Consult, liaise and collaborate with key stakeholders, relevant government and non-government agencies to build strong working relationships, anticipate and respond to and manage client and stakeholder needs and expectations.
• Manage the human, financial and information resources to ensure timely and financially responsible delivery of service throughout the state.
• Manage the collection, collation and report on performance measurement data.
• Undertake other duties as identified by the Practice Manager or Director.
Technical skills, abilities and cultural capability
• Experience in strategic management of programs and people, including developing and implementing new or strategic initiatives, fostering a stimulating learning environment, evaluating / addressing performance of team members and providing sound guidance and coaching.
• Knowledge and experience in facilitative mediation, the justice system or conflict resolution.
• Demonstrated capacity to build long-term partnerships with a range of government and non-government stakeholders that produce positive results.
• Demonstrated capacity to establish rapport and trust with others while maintaining composure in the face of contrary opinions.
• Demonstrated capacity to work on multiple projects simultaneously while being responsive and available to support the work and wellbeing of the team.
• Demonstrated ability to contributes to workplace equity, diversity, respect, and inclusion that enriches our culture of respect and inclusion.
